5 Jewelry Pieces I'm Wearing on Repeat (And Recommend to Every Client)

5 Jewelry Pieces

If you've ever stood in front of your closet feeling like your outfit is fine but not quite finished, jewelry might be the missing piece. And I don't mean a whole jewelry box overhaul. I'm talking about five specific pieces that will make getting dressed feel effortless, every single time.

These are the pieces I wear myself and recommend to my one-on-one styling clients over and over again. Some are classics you probably already own (time to pull them out!), and a couple are newer favorites that are about to become your go-tos.

1. Gold Hoops (The Chunky-ish Kind)

Let's start with the workhorse of my jewelry collection: a pair of gold hoops.

Not tiny studs that disappear. Not giant door-knockers that swing when you turn your head. I'm talking about that sweet spot in between; chunky enough that you can see them, but not so big that they take over your whole look.

I wear mine with sweats. I wear them out to dinner. I wear them pretty much every day because they work with literally everything. They add just the right amount of polish to any outfit without any effort at all.

And here's the thing: they don't need to be expensive. You can invest in a beautiful pair or grab an affordable version that looks just as good. The key is finding a size that feels noticeable but easy.

2. A Y Necklace

If you haven't tried a Y necklace yet, this is your sign.

A Y necklace is exactly what it sounds like. It forms a "Y" shape, with a chain that drops down your neckline. What makes it so great is the versatility. You can adjust where that drop hits depending on what you're wearing.

Wearing a crewneck? Let it sit higher. Have a button-up open a few buttons? Let it fall deeper along your décolletage. It can sit anywhere you want it to, which means one necklace gives you a lot of different looks.

It also layers beautifully with other pieces if you're into that. But honestly, it looks gorgeous all on its own, too.

3. A Diamond Tennis Bracelet

This one is a classic for a reason.

I have a tennis bracelet from when I was first married, and I recently pulled it back out. I'd forgotten how much I love it. There's something about that subtle sparkle on your wrist that just makes everything feel a little more special, even on a regular Tuesday.

I've been wearing mine alongside gold bracelets, and I love how the platinum and gold play together. It's that mix of metals that feels modern and interesting without trying too hard.

You can absolutely wear a tennis bracelet dressed down, it's not just for fancy occasions. A little sparkle with your everyday look? Yes, please.

4. A Statement Ring

I happen to have a lot of statement rings, but you really only need one to make a difference.

A statement ring is one of the easiest ways to add personality and fun to any outfit. It could be a family heirloom. It could be something you picked up on vacation. It could be inexpensive or a real splurge, it doesn't matter. What matters is that it catches your eye and makes you smile when you look down at your hand.

It's a small detail, but it's the kind of thing that makes people say, "Oh, I love your ring!" And that little bit of interest goes a long way in pulling an outfit together.

5. Statement Necklaces: Bauble Necklaces & Tassel Necklaces

Okay, the first four pieces are more classic and timeless. These last two are the ones that are going to freshen up your jewelry game right now.

Bauble necklaces

Big, chunky, beaded statement necklaces are everywhere, and I am personally obsessed. I think they look so cool and they instantly make any outfit feel more intentional. If the bigger beads feel like too much for you, the same look comes in smaller sizes, too. But I'm not going to lie, the big ones are my favorite. It's giving Mrs. Roper energy and I am here for it.

Tassel necklaces

Tassel necklaces are the other piece I've been reaching for constantly. There's something about a tassel that's textural and interesting and just cool. It breaks things up visually, hangs beautifully, and adds movement to your outfit. You can wear it long or wrap it double for a shorter look. Totally different vibes from the same piece.

If you're only going to add one or two new jewelry pieces this year, the bauble and the tassel are where I'd start. They're the fastest way to make your outfits feel current and fresh.

The Bottom Line

You don't need a ton of jewelry to feel great in your clothes. These five pieces — gold hoops, a Y necklace, a tennis bracelet, a statement ring, and a bobble or tassel necklace — cover so much ground. They work dressed up, dressed down, and everywhere in between.

And chances are, you already have some of these hiding in your jewelry box right now. This is your reminder to pull them out and start wearing them again.

If you're looking to add something new, I'd say the bauble and tassel necklaces are the way to go. They're the pieces that are going to make your outfits feel the most fresh and current right now.
