Go Red Day - For Women's Heart Health Awareness

Go Red Day - For Women's Heart Health Awareness

Friday, February 4th is Wear Red Day

Did you know that February is Women’s Heart Health Awareness Month?

This week’s blog post is in support of The American Heart Association’s Go Red For Women campaign.

Heart Disease is the NUMBER ONE Killer of Women

Since 2004, the Go Red For Women movement has educated millions of women about heart health. I was surprised to learn that the number one health threat to women is cardiovascular disease. Yes, you read that right. Cardiovascular disease is the number one health threat to women!

The American Heart Association has realized that the newest challenge is educating younger women and women of color because they are not aware that this threat is real. The hope is that by ROCKING YOUR RED on February 4th, more women will be alerted to this very real health threat.

Go Red for Women has evolved into a global movement and is a driving force in the world of health equity. The campaign works to accelerate science, advance public health policy, and address the multitude of gender and racial gaps for women in research, healthcare, and more.

But What Does This Have to Do With Fashion?

Well, it kind of doesn’t but it actually really does… First and foremost, many of my readers are women. Fashion might be my main focus, but in reality, it’s all issues that are important to women. And if sharing this information on this platform can help raise awareness and save lives through education about women and the risk of cardiovascular disease and stroke, then yeah, I want in.

And secondly, this Friday, February 4, 2022, is WEAR RED DAY. It’s a day designed to rally together women from across the community and the nation to make a splash and increase consciousness of women’s heart health by wearing red. And I’m all about dressing for a theme!

You’ll see newscasters and politicians, teachers and bankers, CEO’s and moms all wearing red. I’ll be rocking my red on February 4th and I hope you will too.

Rock Your Red

So let’s all join together, in support of Women’s Heart Health and ROCK YOUR RED. Be sure to post your photos on Instagram and Facebook wearing RED this Friday. And be sure to tag me - so I can repost all of you beauties rocking your red outfits!
