But honestly, in the world of women's footwear, we often find ourselves at a crossroads: sneakers for ultimate comfort or stilettos for that uncomfortable elegance. But what if I told you there's a middle ground? Welcome to the era of micro heels – the perfect blend of comfort and chic.

Micro heels are the answer to elongating your legs without the wobbly walk, aching back, and tortured feet often associated with high heels. They are smaller heels, often less than 2 inches in height, and come in various shapes, not just the traditional stiletto like the kitten heels.

Micro Heels vs. Kitten Heels

While kitten heels have always been synonymous with a mini stiletto heel, micro heels broaden the horizon. A kitten heel is technically a short stiletto heel with a slight curve setting the heel in from the shoe's back edge. Micro heels, on the other hand, can be boots, sandals, or closed-toe shoes. Their defining feature is a small heel that adds a touch of elevation without compromising comfort.

From Retro to Modern Chic

Micro heels have traveled from being a staple for older ladies or a 1960s costume piece (think 'Mad Men' and Audrey Hepburn) to a current cool girl's wardrobe essential. "Seen on the SS24 runways of Prada, Valentino, and more, the kitten heel is sure to be next year's it shoe," underscores their resurgence as a fashionable and practical choice for contemporary women.

The Practicality of Micro Heels

For those who aren't fans of ballet flats, micro heels offer a viable alternative. These shoes strike a balance by providing a subtle lift, enhancing posture, and maintaining comfort - all essential for the active, on-the-go woman. This delicious blend of functionality and elegance makes micro heels a standout choice in contemporary footwear. They embody the practicality needed for day-to-day activities without sacrificing the poise and sophistication desired in a shoe.

I’m giving outfit details and sizing info because so many of you ask and it’s a helpful way to know what to order.

And as an FYI - here are my stats:

  • 5’4”

  • 127-130lbs

  • 34c bust

  • Typically a small/2 or 4/26 in jeans

  • Shoe 6.5-7

I love how these micro heels look with denim! And especially because these heels are denim - it is a twist on a canadian tuxedo. These pieces are all fabulous on their own as well as how they’re paired here.

Top: White button ups are having a moment (if you don’t have one, now is the time to grab one!) This one is particularly great for three reasons… 1, the embellished collar elevates any look. 2, the cropped length, hits perfectly at the hips to give the illusion of a tuck. And, 3, this skirt has a built-in elastic band at the wrist so zhuzhing the sleeve up is easy. I’m wearing a size 4.

Jeans: These jeans take fun and fab to the next level! The fit is on point and there is some stretch for comfort. I sized up one size for waist comfort.

Shoes: I mean these shoes! Ladylike but not boring. And if you have a wider front foot like me, they’re very comfortable. They give just a bit of lift, 1.5 in to be exact!! They run TTS.

Bag: There is something so outfit making about this bag. It gives me all kinds of 80’s retro vibes, in the best possible way. It is sooo good it actually sold out at some retailers, but I tracked it down for you!! But order ASAP - it’s going fast!

Top: A tee shirt with spunk! How great that this tee has the jewelry built in!?! It definitely makes a black tee shirt more interesting. I’m wearing a small.

Jeans: Black denim is a closet staple for me. I love that these are a true black (it makes them feel dressier) and have a just slight crop. They’re a midrise and run TTS.

PRO TIP - pant lengths are getting longer so if you’re buying a new pair of jeans, opt for an ankle length crop or longer.

Shoes: I adore these Dior! This pair is a true kitten heel. They come in many color/pattern combinations and IMHO are classic and lovely. Even more importantly, comfortable!! Run TTS.

Similar outfit - just changed the top and it’s a whole other feel.

Top: This is such a flattering top - it’s a wrap style, so it visually snatches the waist. It’s great all year long (picture it with white in the summer). And works for the office or going out.

Jewelry: I like filling up the space at the neck with layered necklaces. Here I used 3 - equally spaced, from different brands.

Why sets make such great outfits!

Top: This one shoulder top gives just a touch of sass. It comes in a few colors but I love the navy. And how it works with the matching satin pants. However it will look great with jeans or leather too. Runs TTS. I’m wearing a small.

Pants: The fabric truly elevates these cargos. And gives the set the feel of a jumpsuit (but makes it way easier to goto the bathroom - IYKYK). I’d also wear these pants with a t-shirt and sneakers for a dressed down look. They are mid to high waisted so I went with a size 6.

Shoes: The easiest way to update your outfit this season is with metallics. And these shoes are so easy to wear. They actually worked with every outfit I posted here- the jeans, the dress, the black - they’re that versatile. And of course, comfortable! These are 55mm (2.1 in) Run TTS

Bag: A silver bag is a really easy way to add that bit of metallic. This one is fantastic because it holds essentials, yet still feels small and appropriate for evenings.

A perfect party ensemble!

Dress: the colors in this dress are stunning! And it’s super comfortable and easy to wear. And can be worn all year long - I’d totally wear it with boots and a leather jacket or tight turtleneck under. It runs big though… I sized down to a 2.

Shoes: these are so comfortable and elongating. Typically I shy away from nude patent, but these are really good! The heel is a bit higher than a true micro heel (at 3 in) but they honestly do not feel that high when they’re on. Run TTS

Necklace: I love how this little evil eye pendant adds just a bit of bling to this outfit. I didn;t want to do too much because there is a metallic element to the fabric. This adds just a little something (and can be worn everyday).

Bag: This bag is soooo fun! The sporty style combined with the sequins, and the bright color just feels like the perfect combo  - it's a study of the rule of juxtaposition - all in one piece. It’s precisely that combo that makes this bag work with some many different looks. Athletic wear, jeans and dresses all look great with this bag.
