What to Wear for Pickleball & Golf: Outfits That Work on the Court, the Course, & Beyond
Pickleball is having a moment. Golf never really went out of style. And both sports bring something unexpected to the table: outfit potential. Athleticwear has come a long way. Today’s golf and pickleball outfits are functional, flattering, and actually fun to wear. But with all the colors, cuts, and dress codes out there, it can be tricky to figure out what works and especially what works together.
So let’s talk about it: how to build a stylish, practical wardrobe for your favorite sport (or your favorite excuse to grab an iced coffee after “playing”).
What to Wear for Pickleball & Golf
Start With a Color Strategy
Here’s my personal rule when it comes to golf and pickleball clothes: don’t buy every fun, colorful piece you see just because it’s cute in the moment. Activewear gets very colorful, very fast—and without a plan, those colors often don’t go together. That’s how you end up with a drawer full of cute things… that don’t make a single outfit.
Instead, I recommend creating mini capsules around one or two base colors. My go-tos are:
Black (easy, sleek, classic)
Navy (preppy, polished, plays well with brights)
White (goes with almost everything)
Then I layer in fun colors or prints that tie back to those bases. For example:
A printed skirt with navy, hot pink, and white
A hot pink tank to match
A navy visor and white sneakers to pull it all together
The base color is your anchor. And once you have that anchor, you can mix and match confidently, no second guessing in front of your closet.
The Building Blocks: What to Look For
Function matters just as much as fashion, especially when you’re actually playing. (Which we are! Style and performance, always.)
Here’s what to prioritize when shopping for either sport:
Moisture-Wicking & Breathable Fabrics
No one wants to feel sweaty and sticky mid-match. Look for performance materials that keep you cool and dry.
Built-In Shorts or Liners
Especially under skirts and dresses. You want to move freely without feeling like you’re adjusting every five seconds.
Stretch + Structure
You want clothes that stretch with you but still hold their shape—especially after hours of movement.
Pockets (when possible)
Even better if they’re subtle. A spot for a tee or a ball makes a big difference.
Dress Code Friendly Details
Some golf clubs still require collared shirts, skirts or shorts of a certain length, or even tennis whites. Always check first, then shop accordingly.
My Go-To Golf & Pickleball Outfit Formulas
These combos strike the right balance between put-together and practical, whether you're heading to the courts or just popping in for your 9:00 tee time.
Outfits For Pickleball:
Printed skort + solid tank + matching zip-up or cropped jacket
Coordinated matching set (tank + skort or dress)
Lightweight court sneaker + visor or baseball cap
Add a crossbody belt bag if you’re heading straight to brunch after
Outfits For Golf:
Sleeveless polo + tailored skort or longer shorts
Collared short-sleeve shirt + belted shorts
Pullover or vest for early tee times or breezy afternoons
Visor, glove, and don’t forget SPF!
How to Make It All Work Together
If you’re playing both sports (or just love the sporty look) try to pick items that work across activities. A great skort, a well-fitting collared top, or a performance dress can easily move from golf to pickleball and back again.
Also: prints are your friend if they’re intentional. A multicolor skirt or patterned top can act as the “marrying piece” in your mini capsule. It’s what brings your solids together and helps your outfits feel styled, not just thrown on.

Final Thoughts: Confidence Is the Real MVP
At the end of the day, the best outfit is the one that makes you feel like you. Choose pieces that fit well, feel great, and work with each other—not against. When you plan with a color strategy, you’ll spend less time guessing and more time playing.
And yes, it is absolutely possible to look cute and win your match. (Or at least show up in a really good outfit.)
