Bread Pudding Recipe

This bread pudding recipe is a family and friend favorite. And it’s an excellent use of week old Challah bread!

Bread Pudding Recipe

ingredients

Bread:

  • 1 loaf (6-7 cups) bread cut into 1” cubes (I use challah)

  • 1 qt (4 cups) milk

  • 3 eggs lightly beaten

  • 2cups sugar

  • 2 tbsp vanilla

  • 1-1.5 cups total of chocolate chips + craisins or anything else you want to add (raisins, nuts, white chocolate chips, etc.)

  • 1/4 tsp allspice

  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon

Sauce:

  • 1 stick of butter

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar

Directions

Bread:

  1. Preheat oven to 350

  2. Grease/spray pan (I use a bunt pan, 9x13 or 2 loaf pans)

  3. Soak bread in milk until it’s absorbed

  4. Beat eggs, sugar, vanilla, spices and pour into bread mixture

  5. Pour batter into pan

  6. Bake at 350 for 35-45 min or until edges get brown and begin to pull away from sides of the pan

Sauce:

  1. Melt butter and sugar in a saucepan until it boils. *careful it doesn’t burn

  2. Pour over bread pudding AFTER it is baked

  3. Return to oven for 5 min

I also make it parve with almond or soy milk and margarine.
