Sufganiyot (Jelly Doughnuts) Recipe

Sufganiyot Recipe

For Channukuah we eat fried foods to represent the miracle of the oil lasting 8 days. So donuts (and potato pancakes) are very typical menu items. This is the exact recipe I use (I adore Jamie Geller’s recipes)!

Two tips I’ve learned through the years…

1. I do not fill them all with jelly because my kids do not like the filled kind - no worries they taste great without them.

2. Make sure to listen to the tip to not make the donuts too big - it is key! My first year making them I was overly ambitious (and impatient - I wanted them done) and the larger donuts did not cook through - my little ones thought they were cream filled - YUCK!! So the smaller the dough ball, the better the results.
