The 6 Spring Shoes That Will Get You Through the Season
If you’re like 98% of my first-time styling clients, you’re struggling with what shoes to wear right now. And honestly, I get it!
Spring (and fall, for that matter) is this weird shoe purgatory. It’s not boots weather anymore, but it’s not quite sandals weather yet. So what do you actually put on your feet so you feel weather-appropriate, comfortable, and like you have your life together?
I’ve got you covered. Here are the 6 spring shoes that will carry you through the season with style and ease.
1. Sneakers
The effortless everyday shoe
Always a fan favorite, and for good reason. If you already have a white pair (and you should), I love the idea of adding a sneaker with some color for spring. A pop of something unexpected instantly makes your outfit feel more exciting.
Go for a low profile. It works beautifully with a cropped pant, but it also looks great with a wider leg or fuller pant. The key is keeping the sneaker sleek so it doesn’t compete with the volume of your pants.
Wear it with: cropped trousers, wide-leg jeans, midi skirts with a casual vibe, or your favorite spring dress when you want to dress it down.

2. Loafers
The shoe that makes everything look more polished
We’ve been hearing so much about loafers lately, and the hype is real. I especially love the kind with ruching at the front. It gives the shoe a more designer feel without the designer price tag. This pair is the “inspired by” version, they’re fabulous and super comfortable.
I picked brown because brown is the it color right now. You’ll notice that’s basically a theme across the shoes I actually own, browns and tans galore. Brown is having a major moment, and a brown loafer is one of the most versatile shoes you can own.
Wear it with: straight-leg jeans, wide-leg trousers, midi dresses, or even with a trouser and blazer for a more put-together look.

3. Mules
Air conditioning for your feet (but make it chic)
A mule is one of those shoes you just throw on and go. Your toes are covered, but you’ve got that open back giving you a little ventilation. Air conditioning for your feet, if you know what I mean. It’s the perfect in-between shoe for spring.
I love a slightly jeweled or bedazzled pair for some added personality, but they absolutely come in solids too. The beauty of a mule is that it reads as polished without any effort.
Wear it with: jeans (any cut), flowy pants, midi skirts, or cropped trousers. Basically everything.

4. Woven Ballet Flat
The closed-toe shoe that doesn’t suffocate your foot
Now, I know I’ve been vocal about those sneaker-ballet-flat hybrids (not a fan). But a proper ballet flat, especially a woven or Mary Jane style with a very subtle, narrow strap, is a completely different story. The narrow strap is key: it doesn’t cut your foot off in that unflattering way a thick strap can.
A woven texture adds visual interest and keeps the shoe feeling airy. Your toes are covered, but the woven material gives you breathability. Think of it as the best of both worlds.
Wear it with: cropped pants, dresses, skirts, or even dressed-down trousers for a day at the office.

5. The Glove Shoe (Flat)
My cool girl shoe
I’ve had my glove shoes for a few years now, and I’m still obsessed. I was one of the early adopters, and they remain one of my absolute favorites. They just look cool with everything.
A glove shoe hugs the foot in a way that’s flattering and modern. I love them in suede, and there are options at every price point from higher-end to totally accessible. The elongated toe box is what makes them special—it adds detail and visual interest without chopping up your foot.
And here’s a bonus: if you have bunions, glove shoes are a dream. The buttery soft leather moves with your foot instead of against it. They’re insanely comfortable.
Wear it with: literally everything! Jeans, trousers, dresses, skirts. These are the shoes that make people ask, “Where did you get those?”

6. The Glove Shoe (With a Heel)
The elevated version for when flats won’t cut it
Same concept as the flat glove shoe, but with a subtle heel. I love that the heel is wide, so if you live in a city or walk on city streets, you’re not getting your heel caught in every sidewalk crack. Fashion meets function!
This shoe bridges the gap between casual and dressy beautifully. It looks just as good with a dress as it does with pants, and the soft leather keeps it comfortable enough for all-day wear. If you love the flat version, this is the natural next step for days when you want a little extra polish.
Wear it with: spring dresses, wide-leg trousers, cropped pants, or your go-to jeans when you want to elevate the whole look.

Your Spring Shoe Game Plan
You don’t need to buy all six. Take a look at what you already have and figure out where the gaps are. Maybe you’re set on sneakers but missing a good loafer. Maybe your ballet flats have seen better days and it’s time for an upgrade. The goal is to have a few reliable options so you’re not standing in your closet every morning wondering what to put on your feet.
Spring shoe purgatory is real, but it doesn’t have to be painful. With the right shoes in your rotation, getting dressed becomes the easy part.
